Is there a point in other movies coming out this week? Or me writing other reviews? Because they’re all going to be overshadowed by this one. Yes, I saw the first movie in the series and was able to catch this one at the AMP screening last night. I fear bad-mouthing the movie because of all of you Team Edward and Team Jacob crazed Twihards! I suppose if you’re a huge fan, you’re going to be happy regardless. If you’re not, well, this one is definitely cheesier than the first one… by leaps and bounds. Be patient, it gets better as it goes. Either way, there are a lot of hot shirtless men… well, boys, (A LOT) so if you like those, then it might be worth sitting through. Oh, and the ending? It’ll TOTALLY leave you wanting more. Stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and small role by Dakota Fanning.

• The Blind Side

I’ll be surprised if you’re reading this since it’s following my Twilight review… but for those of you still with me, this movie features Sandra Bullock and country singer Tim McGraw. Based on a true story about a disadvantaged teen that gets taken in by a family and pursues a career in the NFL. Well, I don’t really know what to say. It’s sort of corny for my taste, but there are those of you that love these “based on a true story” movies. Get those tissues ready… this one’s gonna be a tearjerker. If the cheese in “New Moon” isn’t enough, make it a double feature night and see this while you’re at it.

• Planet 51

I think “cheese” is the theme for this week’s reviews. What better way to top it off than with an animated film? Written by the same people who did “Shrek”, the story follows an astronaut from Earth (voiced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) and his adventures on Planet 51 and the alien invasion. Other familiar voices include Jessica Beil and Sean William Scott. But… wait… what’s the point of having Sean William Scott in a movie where you can’t see his hotness? Well, I guess this is geared more towards the younger crowd, anyway. What a shame…

AMP’s providing you with a list of the nominees and who we predict will take home the awards…that is if Kanye doesn’t interrupt them….

• Favorite Male Artist: T.I, Eminem, Michael Jackson

AMP’s prediction: Michael Jackson of course – in regards to award shows its almost a crime if a recently passed nominee doesn’t win, and this one truly deserves it.  We’re predicting that Michael Jackson will be the Heath Ledger of awards this year.

• Favorite Female Artist: Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga

AMP’s prediction: Tough call on this one! All these ladies have rocked it this year and while we can’t wait to see what Lady Gaga will do during her performance for “Bad Romance,” we’re thinking that Taylor’s hot streak isn’t quite over yet and she’ll add another award to her pile.

• Favorite Band, Duo, or Group: Black Eyed Peas, Nickelback, Kings of Leon

AMP’s prediction: Black Eyes Peas all the way – how many #1 hits have they had this year alone???

• Favorite Album: Lady Gaga (Fame), Michael Jackson (Number Ones), Taylor Swift (Fearless)

AMP’s prediction: Its odd to see Taylor Swift nominated next to the King of Pop isn’t it?  And what about Lady Gaga?  Well, we’re sticking to our guns and saying MJ will take away all of the awards he’s up for this year, we’re hoping Janet accepts on his behalf.

• Favorite Rap/Hip Hop artist: T.I, Jay Z, Eminem

AMP’s prediction: Its Jigga’s all the way.

• Favorite Soundtrack: Hannah Montana: The Movie, Hannah Montana 3, Twilight

AMP’s prediction: ummmm…. the vampires will win this, fainting fans included.

• Other AMP predictions:  Beyonce (favorite female soul R&B artist), Black Eyed Peas (Favorite group soul R&B), Taylor Swift (Favorite adult comtemporary, even though she isn’t legal), Kings of Leon (Favorite alternative) Lady Gaga (T Mobile breakthrough artist)

Gaga’s prime time debut was written into an episode of the show by explaining that Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) gets her step father to book the pop star and former NYU student as an act for Cabaret Night at the college.  During the short the pop powerhouse performed her new single “Bad Romance” with ladders.  Gaga spoke with MTV.com about the process explaining:

I really sat down with the writers.  I was, like, ‘Look, I want to do this, and the reason I want to do this is because I am trying to say something that is not mainstream in a mainstream capacity. So, if I can say it on your show, that would be a real coup d’état for me as a performance artist.’

The world is ending! No, seriously. You’ve probably heard the story of how the Mayans predicted the world to end during the year 2012, and in this movie John Cusack and Amanda Peet are in charge of leading a group to fight the apocalypse. Additional big names in this include Thandie Newton, Woody Harrelson, and Danny Glover who plays the President. Even though this movie has been hyped insanely (and I HATE overly hyped movies), I would still see it. And for the record, if the world was ending, I would totally follow John Cusack to wherever he was going. Has a good head on his shoulders, that kid.

• Pirate Radio

So… this is a radio station movie review… on a movie about a radio station. Weird. Based on a true story from the 1960’s, a group of DJ’s run an illegal radio station on a ship in the middle of Britain’s waters. Maybe it’s because I work in the industry, but this movie is intriguing. It has some awesome names attached to it: Phillip Seymour Hoffman, plus Bill Nighy and Nick Frost of Shaun of the Dead. If you’re looking for a movie with more substance than the norm, definitely see this.

• Dare

I could have done my third review on the eerie Fantastic Mr. Fox that comes out the same week, but after seeing this trailer I had to choose Dare. It’s about three friends that are basically going through the obstacles we all face of growing up. Emmy Rossum, Zach Gilford, and Ashley Springer play the three friends but the actors that caught my attention are Alan Cumming, Sandra Bernhard, and SNL alum Ana Gasteyer. Going on limited release, this might be worth catching if you’re into the whole teen angst thing… or if you’re a teen with, you know, angst. (But what teen doesn’t?)

Rihanna

We found out that yes, she can actually see through those studded shades and what inspired the eye patch she wore in her video for “Wait Your Turn (The Wait is Ova)” – she said she likes the “mysteriousness it brings.”

“The eyes tell it all, so if you only see one you only get half of the story.”  Check out what else she had to say:

Taylor had a barrage of hilarious skits that she starred in, but it was her opening montage where she did an original song medley that she really sparkled.  Singing and song writing is what she does best and she totally proves it, not that we ever questioned her talents in the first place!

However, she was also completely hilarious and believable in a spoof on Twilight called Firelight.  Here she really showed her comedic range as she played a take on the Bella Swan character from the film with SNL cast member Bill Header playing the role of a teenage Frankenstein.

In addition to her appearance on SNL, Taylor’s collaboration with singer John Mayer also hit the net this weekend and we have to say, it’s the perfect duet!  The two work together so well we’d love to see them do an album together in the future.  Check out the SNL clips and Taylors John Mayer collaboration  and let us know what you think about Taylor’s big week in the comments!

George Lopez’s new nightly talk show debuts tonight with guests Eva Longoria Parker and Kobe Bryant – Lopez claims his show will be less stuffy than other late night shows and more like ‘a party in your backyard’. Sounds good to us!

As the end of the year approaches, The Soup has rounded up some of 2009’s best talk show moments where we’re sure to see a lot of Rachael Ray, Wendy Williams and her highness, Oprah.

With Lauren Conrad’s departure, The Hills hasn’t been doing so well in the ratings, but it will most likely change after Brody’s girlfriend Jayde and Kristin get into a fight over Brody in tonight’s episode, and when we say ‘fight’ we’re talking Jerry Springer style….

• Wednesday: Country Music  Awards, ABC 8pm

Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood team up to host the 43rd CMA awards live from Nashville, and will be joined by AMP’s girl Taylor Swift in performing.

Star of The Real World: Brooklyn, Ryan Conklin, reality star/college student/marine is followed as he deploys back to Iraq.  Cameras follow him from his goodbyes (one of which is to ex-roomate and now girlfriend Baya) all the way to his day to day life in Bagdad.

Last week, in a shock to the audience, wiped out two of the three tap dancers in the competition and tonight we’ll go from the Top 16 to the Top 14.  This season has so much talent we almost forget Mia’s gone…almost.

A new cast member joins the Tracy Jordan Show and with his laid back ways and easygoing attitude, Jenna and Tracy are scared straight into ditching their diva behavior.

• Saturday: Saturday Night Live, NBC 11:30pm

January Jones of Mad Men is hosting tonight with the hit-machine Black Eyed Peas as musical guests – will Fergie address any of those stripper rumors through a skit?  Here’s to hoping…

During the promo, Taylor addresses the camera talking about her hosting duties when SNL cast member Bill Hader interrupts her saying “Whoops, Kanye West just called. He thinks Beyonce should host instead. Funny joke, right?”  To which Taylor rolls her eyes and says, “Wow.”  After checking out the promo, it seems that nothing will be off limits for the record-breaking singer when she hosts the sketch comedy show this Saturday, November 7th.  Will you be tuning in on Saturday, or do you think Taylor should have avoided talking about the incident, even in joking?  Let us know in the comments!
