Lady Gaga wasn’t always the in your face, fashion forward performer that we’ve come to love. In a land before time, she was once an New York University student with hopes for fame and stardom.  Here she is performing at Ultraviolet Live, NYU’s annual talent show, when she would still wear pants and used her birth name, Stefani Germanotta.

This video is proof that Gaga’s talent is the true catalyst for her rising star.  The first song she performs is called “Captivated,” and the second one is “Electric Kiss.”  Although she did not win the competition she managed to take home 3rd place.  However, she is the long run winner now that she’s an internationally famous super star.  Make sure you watch till the end and check out which other rising star was one of the judges of the competition and then let us know in the comments if you can tell Gaga’s potential while watching her college video!
